The year is 1756. I am a Scotsman that fought in the battle of Culloden Moor on April 16, 1746. After the English killed as many of the highlanders and Jacobites they could find. I myself fled to Ireland in order to escape the butchery. I didn't have anything left in Scotland anyway as my first wife and child where killed by a plague years earlier.
Nessa is a Scots-Irish woman whose father fled with his wife to Ireland after he fought in the 1719 rebellion. It was in Ireland that we met. I spent 2 years courting her while I worked in a distillery. Unfortunately her parents did not approve and we ended up running away to the American colonies. I was able to get passage for us to the colonies by saving money for her ticket and my working on the ship that granted her passage.
Upon arriving in New York we found that we needed to head west in order to get land of our own and to get away from the English troops here in the new world. Fortunately we found some other members of my clan that had come to the colonies long before the last Jacobite rebellion. They being more familiar with the area and the locals helped us to adapt. We made our way to the Great Lakes region between Fort St. Louis on the Illinois River and Fort La Baye on the southern tip of Baye des Puans. We are currently aiding the French in their war against the British in the Ohio Territory. I also am working as a trapper in the Illinois Territory of La Petite Canada for my French allies.
